Nestor Manuelian is one of Australia's most well known and loved Latin dancers (Director of Latin Dance Australia, Sydney.) An accomplished dancer himself (with numerous World & Australian Titles) he is perhaps just as well known for his work as a teacher and mentor to thousands of dancers across the world.
I (Elysia, director of La Encantada Collective, Melbourne) have witnessed first hand Nestors guidance, encouragement and positive attitude towards dance & life. He has inspired myself and thousands of others to pursue their dreams in dance and business, and has guided many to find their own successes. (Photo below: World Latin Dance Cup 2014, Miami, USA. I still remember Nestors face cheering and screaming with the Australian flag when I was on stage receiving my medal. He was so excited and proud.)
As unbelievable as it is for such a generous and humble person to be dealt this card, Nestor has recently been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. (Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer with Metastases to Liver and Peritoneal Cavity.)
Nestor recently married the love of his life Rebecca and we were all so excited by this! But then so soon after to receive this diagnosis has shocked the dance community, we want them to know we are 100% behind them and we want to do our little bit to make this new challenge a little easier for them.
This story is close to home for many of us, we know the uphill road ahead. So please if you can help with any small donation that can help with Nestors treatment, or perhaps for him to put towards his next dance team dreams.
Nestor is the definition of selfless. He through the midst of his own school being under stress whilst receiving his devastating news, was still checking in with us school owners in Melbourne to see if HE could help US in any way during the pandemic crisis. I mean.. seriously!! He is a super hero. Let's show our support for #teamnestor
